Water Announcement — Stage 1 Water Restrictions

City of Dumas Announcement
20 June 2011
Stage 1 Water Restrictions Continue

Due to severe drought conditions in the area, the city is experiencing both high water demand and reduced output from the city's water wells. Therefore, the City of Dumas is invoking Stage 1 of the Drought Contingency Plan and asking the citizens of Dumas to voluntarily restrict their water use, until further notice.

Water customers are requested to voluntarily limit the watering of lawns and landscaped areas to Sundays and Thursdays for those customers with an even-numbered street address (ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8) and to Saturdays and Wednesdays for those customers with an odd-numbered street address (ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9). Further, no watering should be done between 10:00 am and 8:00 pm

Watering of lawns and landscaping may be done anytime with a hand held hose or watering bucket.

Vehicle washing at home should also follow the same day and time restrictions for lawn watering. As yet, there are no restrictions on the use of commercial car washes.

Customers are also asked to practice water conservation, generally. Please minimize or discontinue water use for non-essential purposes, such as washing down driveways, sidewalks, parking areas, gutters, or buildings.

These water restrictions are voluntary for the time being, but they may become mandatory in the near future if water use is not reduced. Mandatory restrictions will come with citations and purposes for violators .

We appreciate your help. If you have any questions, please contact the City of Dumas at 935-4101 or 935-4707.

Water Announcement - Water Restriction Stage 1

Due to the continued hot weather and severe drought conditions in the area, the city is experiencing both a high demand for water and a reduction in the output of the city wells. Therefore, the City of Dumas is implementing phase 1 of the Drought Contingency Plan and requesting the citizens of Dumas to voluntarily begin restricting their use of water.

Water consumers are asked to voluntarily limit watering lawns and landscape areas to Sundays and Thursdays for customers with even-numbered street addresses (ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8) and to Saturdays and Wednesdays for those customers with a street address with odd numbers (ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9). Also, we are asking that it not be watered between 10:00 am and 8:00 pm

Car washing - except that you wash your car at the commercial car wash station - the same day and time restrictions will be followed.

Consumers are also being asked to practice water conservation and minimize or discontinue the use of water for non-essential purposes, such as washing driveways, sidewalks, parking areas, sewers, and buildings.

The voluntary reduction in water consumption will help to maintain a continuous and adequate supply of water and avoid mandatory restrictions.
